Argentine Dogo

The Argentine Dogo, also known as the Dogo Argentino and the Argentinean Mastiff, was developed in Argentina during the 1920s to hunt pumas and jaguars. the breed descended from the old Fighting Dog of Cordoba (Spain). Crosses were made with several other breeds such as the Boxer, the Great Dane, the Irish Wolfhound, the Great Pyrenees, the Bulldog to name a few. His large strong, square head goes back to some of its mastiff origins. This breed development took place under the guidance of the breed's founder, Dr. Antonio Martinez, to produce an obedient temperament in a sound body.
