Manchesters are affectionate with their families but reserved with strangers and can be nippy and protective of their food bowls.
Appearance
There are two Manchester varieties: toy and standard. Both have coats that are smooth, short, and glossy, never soft to the touch.

Coat color is jet-black or rich dark tan with well-defined boundaries. There is usually a black "thumbprint" patch on the front of each "wrist" area on the forelegs and narrow black stripes called pencil marks on the top of each toe.

Toy: 10-12 inches
Standard: 15-16 inches

Weight:
Toy: 7-12 lbs.
Standard: 12-22 lbs.
