One of the world's most popular breeds, these gentle dogs trace their origins back to the St. Johns region of Newfoundland, Canada.

Labradors are solid, muscular dogs, slightly longer than tall. They have a short, hard, water resistant, easy care double coat that does not have any waves.

Colors are solid black, chocolate or yellow. Rare colors of silver or gray are referred to by the AKC as shades of chocolate.

Very easy to train, these dogs are loyal, loving, affectionate and willing workers. They make good watchdogs. Grooming is easy, just comb or brush regularly.

Labradors weigh 55 to 75 lbs. and stand 21-24" at the shoulders. Some males can grow to 100 lbs.
